Livy presents two different justifications for the killing of Remus in his account of the founding of Rome. The first justification is that Remus was killed by his brother Romulus in a fit of rage after mocking the newly built city walls. This portrays the killing as a result of a personal conflict and a rash action. The second justification is that Remus was killed for disrespecting the authority of Romulus and the newly established city, thus emphasizing the importance of obedience and respect for the ruler. These justifications highlight the complex motivations and power dynamics at play in the early history of Rome. **

In Livy, exempla refers to the use of historical examples or anecdotes to illustrate moral or political lessons. Livy often includes these exempla in his narrative to emphasize the importance of virtuous behavior and to provide models for his readers to follow. These exempla serve as a means for Livy to convey his moral and political message, and they are an integral part of his historical writing style. **

Livy ab urbe condita means "Livy from the founding of the city" in Latin. It refers to the title of the work "Ab Urbe Condita Libri" (Books from the Foundation of the City) written by the Roman historian Livy. The work covers the history of Rome from its legendary founding in 753 BC to the reign of Augustus in Livy's time. It is a comprehensive account of Rome's early history and the events that shaped the rise of the Roman Republic. **

Livy's stance towards Augustus's politics is not explicitly clear in his writings. While Livy did not openly criticize Augustus, he also did not overtly support him. Some scholars suggest that Livy may have been cautious in expressing his views on Augustus to avoid any potential backlash from the ruling regime. Overall, it is difficult to definitively say whether Livy supported or opposed the politics of Augustus. **
